National One Hit Wonder Day 2019

Happy National One-Hit Wonder Day!

Man, what a busy month September has turned out to be. The past couple of weeks have been an incredible emotional whirlwind starting with rushing Sweet T’s Momma to the ER a couple of Sundays ago, celebrating with Sweet T and friends at 3 different nighttime events, seeing God at work, and closing out with me and T jamming out at the Carrie Underwood Cry Pretty 360 concert last night. Plus, we’ve been busy giving our laundry room a much-needed facelift.

Sweet T’s Momma is recouping and looks to be on the mend. Praise God!

We’re not DIYers by nature, so this laundry room makeover project is something new for us, stretching us beyond our comfort zone. But we think we’ll be happy we did it once it’s all done.

Making my chaplain rounds, God graciously gave me glimpses of Him working through me to extend the love of Jesus to people desperately in need of the hope and light supplied abundantly by our Lord and Savior. It’s always humbling to be part of God’s ongoing work in the lives of hurting individuals. I’m so thankful for God’s mercy and grace.

Although my birthday was back in July, we’ve managed to continue on with the celebration. What if you celebrated every day like it was your birthday? What would that look like? I believe it could be transformational.

This past week +, I have been blessed by the beauty and diversity of music, getting to experience and interact with the creative sounds of very uniquely different artists and performances. I got to hear the 3 o’clock jazz band at the University of North Texas Wednesday as they explored the music of Bob Brookmeyer. What a treat! Thursday night, Sweet T and I traveled over to Farmers Branch to see the musical “Cats,” performed at the Firehouse Theatre. It was a magnificent performance! And Friday night, as part of my continuous birthday celebration, Sweet T and a group of great friends surprised me by joining us at First United Methodist Richardson for Yesterday and Today, a Beatles experience like no other. It was truly FAB.

Last night, we got to rock out with Carrie Underwood and friends at her Cry Pretty 360 concert at the American Airlines Center. She put on an incredible show and has grown into a super entertainer. The crowd sang at the top of their lungs for most of the show as Carrie unleashed a mesmerizing concert filled with great music, strobing lights, pyrotechnics, and glamorous, glitzy wardrobe. She’s a generational talent who clearly inspires the next generation growing up to her music.

So it’s National One-Hit Wonder Day. How are you celebrating and reminiscing? What are some of your favorite ONE HIT WONDERS?
