Psalm Saturday | God Delivers on His Promises

It is believed that worshippers recited the songs of ascent as they journeyed up the road to Jerusalem to celebrate their annual religious festivals. The author of Psalm 132 calls on fellow Israelites to beseech God in prayer for blessings upon their nation because of David’s faithful commitment to God. David had made great sacrifices in undertaking the building of the Temple. In many ways, Psalm 132 is a cry to remember David’s afflictions that he encountered in building the Temple, fueled by his desire to glorify God. We see God respond with several promises to David. This psalm should encourage us as believers, as we see God’s faithfulness in honoring His promises.

What about you? Do you feel encouraged today or are you dismayed and discouraged by the circumstances and situations surrounding your life?

Psalm 132

A Song of Ascents.

1 Remember, O Lord, in David’s favor,
all the hardships he endured,
2 how he swore to the Lord
and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob,
3 I will not enter my house
or get into my bed,
4 I will not give sleep to my eyes
or slumber to my eyelids,
5 until I find a place for the Lord,
a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.

6 Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah;
we found it in the fields of Jaar.
7 Let us go to his dwelling place;
let us worship at his footstool!

8 Arise, O Lord, and go to your resting place,
you and the ark of your might.
9 Let your priests be clothed with righteousness,
and let your saints shout for joy.
10 For the sake of your servant David,
do not turn away the face of your anointed one.

11 The Lord swore to David a sure oath
from which he will not turn back:
One of the sons of your body
I will set on your throne.
12 If your sons keep my covenant
and my testimonies that I shall teach them,
their sons also forever
shall sit on your throne.

13 For the Lord has chosen Zion;
he has desired it for his dwelling place:
14 This is my resting place forever;
here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
15 I will abundantly bless her provisions;
I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16 Her priests I will clothe with salvation,
and her saints will shout for joy.
17 There I will make a horn to sprout for David;
I have prepared a lamp for my anointed.
18 His enemies I will clothe with shame,
but on him his crown will shine.

We are separated from God because of our sin.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  (Romans 3:23)

According to Scripture, the penalty for sin is death.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

Good News! Jesus Christ paid the debt of our sin by dying on the Cross.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

By confessing our sin to God and agreeing to repent and trust in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we will be saved from our sin.
For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.  (Romans 10:13)
…i
f you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9,10)

To experience life the way God intended, you and I must receive God’s gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. This gift from God is available to all who ask. Will you personally receive the gift of eternal life so that you can experience the total forgiveness from your sins that come through believing in the atoning death and resurrection of Jesus Christ?

God is good all the time and all the time God is good! No matter what.

As always, thanks for reading.

Blessings,
