My Monday Morning Cup | 7 Advent Verses to Share with Your Family

Advent is a season of reflection as we prepare our hearts with anticipation for the coming celebration commemorating the birth of Jesus as well as looking forward to His impending return.

Below are 7 Advent verses to share with your family during Christmas time this year.

Numbers 24:17 (ESV):

I see him, but not now;
I behold him, but not near:
a star shall come out of Jacob,
and a scepter shall rise out of Israel;
it shall crush the forehead of Moab
and break down all the sons of Sheth.

Isaiah 7:14-15 (NLT)

14 All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).15 By the time this child is old enough to choose what is right and reject what is wrong, he will be eating yogurt and honey.

Isaiah 11:11-5 (NIV)

1 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. 2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD— 3 and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; 4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.

Matthew 1:18-19 (ESV)

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly.

Luke 1:35 (NIV)

And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.

John 1:14 (NIV)

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 3:16(NIV)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

May the Lord shine His favor on you as you celebrate this Advent season with your family and loved ones.
