Today is my birthday! By God’s grace, I managed to make 57 trips around the Sun. I am grateful for each and every day. God has blessed me with a fantastic life that I get to share with my beautiful wife, Terri and beloved family and friends. Oh, and let’s not forget our menagerie of fur babies. Sure, there’s things I’d like to do better and things that I’d like to be better, but I am thankful that God gave me the breath of life so that I could experience all that I have thus far in my journey. GOD IS GOOD!!!
To celebrate my birthday here on the blogosphere, I want to share 5 of my favorite Bible passages with you. God’s Word is good to meditate on and it is certainly good food for the soul. For this post, all the verses are in the English Standard Version. Ready? Here they are:
5 of my Favorite Scripture Passages:
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:14-22
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
There are many Bible verses to choose from, chew on, and cherish. The 5 passages above contain some of my favorite verses in God’s Word. I believe God’s Word is alive and active as well as relevant and effective in our daily life, especially if we intentionally make it part of our daily diet. If it’s been a minute, I encourage you to crack open a copy of God’s Word today.
I am looking forward to today and seeing what and who the Lord puts in front of me. I am grateful to get to celebrate another year of life with those whom I love so dearly. I am thankful for you, dearest reader, for spending some time with me today through my blog.
May the Lord bless you and shine His favor on you today!

To experience life the way God intended, you and I must receive God’s gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. This gift from God is available to all who ask. Will you personally receive the gift of eternal life so that you can experience the total forgiveness from your sins that come through believing in the atoning death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ?
For nothing will be impossible with God (Luke 1:37)
