31 Days of Praise | Day 30 Lord of Joy

God is the Lord of Joy. He brings us eternal blessings and makes us glad with His presence. He showers us with love and gives us joy.

Psalm 21:6 (NIV)

Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.

The joy of the Lord is a neglected aspect of God’s nature and character. From the beginning, God took joy in His creation. He delights in us. God rejoices in our salvation. Our service and worship should reflect His joy. When we get to heaven, the joy will even be greater—beyond measure—than anything we experience during our time on Earth.

Today, as you go about your business, thank God for the joy He has given you. You have lots to be joyful about—focus on that rather than those things that seek to distract you from the good things happening in your life right now.

Praise God for He is the Lord of Joy!

31 Days of Praise | Day 29 The God Who Answers Prayers

Before they call I will answer;
while they are yet speaking I will hear.

Isaiah 65:24 (ESV)

As believers, Christians can practice honest communication with God. In the future kingdom yet to come, enjoying perfect communication with God will be another blessing of a future peaceable kingdom.

When we pray, we can be confident God hears us. And yes, prayer works.

Matthew 6:7-8 (ESV)

7 And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

1 John 5:14-15 (ESV)

14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

Praise God

We certainly have a lot to be prayerful about in our modern 21st-century world. It seems like every other day there is another tragic shooting or devastation shakes a region of the world as the result of a natural disaster. While prayer alone will not stop these things, prayer still plays a significant role in overcoming the dire circumstances surrounding these horrific situations. We pray for comfort and healing. We pray for recovery. We pray for discernment and wisdom in identifying solutions. We pray for the courage to act and address those things that divide us.

As believers, we can be sure that God hears our cries and confident that He is at work all around us, even in the bleakest times. He can raise beauty amid the ashes and transform that which was meant for Evil for Good.

If we are willing to trust God, He is faithful to supply our needs. When we call on Him, He answers. He is worthy.
