Identifying 10 Relevant Topics to Entice People to Read Your Christian Blog

Hello Reader!

I pray all is well with you and your blogging world. The heat here in Texas has been at near record levels. I’ve been working a lot ministering to the chronically homeless here in Dallas. In addition to our regular services, we provide a cooling station to help our homeless neighbors get out of the dangerous heat. Bad things happen when people are continually exposed to heat indexes rising above 105. So, while I’ve had a lot of time to think about my blog, I haven’t had as much of an opportunity to write new posts.

Have you ever wondered what might entice more people to read your Christian blog?

In part, after more than a decade of blogging here on The Devotional Guy™, I’ve been thinking about what relevant topics might entice people to read my blog.

After doing some research, here are 10 current Christian topics that I believe are relevant to readers following Christian blogs:

  1. Mental Health and the Christian Faith: Mental health is a topic that has gained interest in recent years. As a Christian blogger, you could explore how mental health and struggles of faith intersect. You could offer personal insights, words of encouragement, and even a few practical strategies for Christians to manage their mental well-being or help them help their loved ones who might be struggling with mental health concerns. Mental health is a topic worth addressing from a Christian perspective.
  2. Navigating Technology from a Christian Perspective: Technological advancements continue to rattle the world at a breathtaking speed. While the implementations of technology may be new, contemplating the ethical and moral challenges surrounding the use of technology are not. Growing up in a small East Texas town before the explosion of personal computing and the dawn of the internet, I saw first-hand how technological advancements wrought fear of the unknown amid church pews. All these years later, it seems like we’re still wrestling with the same fears while those intent on using technology for wrong or to advance their own worldview run ahead of us in leaps and bounds. As a Christian blogger, you could delve into the challenges and opportunities that technology presents including how to maintain a strong faith, develop digital discipleship, nurture a healthy online presence, and grow an encouraging online community.
  3. Social Justice and Christianity: Ever since the George Floyd murder, social justice seems to be in the forefront of American faith communities, including Christians. On your Christian blog, you could discuss how Christians might actively engage in issues related to social justice, equality, and compassion while drawing from biblical teachings and real-world examples.
  4. Faith in the Workplace: Another key arena to explore on your blog centers on the role of faith in the workplace. As a Christian blogger, you could provide advice on how to integrate Christian values into your professional sphere. You could also address topics like ethics, work-life balance, and maintaining integrity in the workplace.
  5. Relationships: God designed us for community. We were simply not intended to thrive and flourish alone. On your Christian blog, you could explore how Christian principles guide relationships. This could include friendships, romantic relationships, and complicated family dynamics. You might focus on how communication, forgiveness, and love play a vital role in nurturing healthy relationships.
  6. Keeping a Biblical Worldview in a Changing Culture: It can be challenging, as a Christian, to hold on to your Biblical principles in an ever-changing world where boys may no longer identify as boys and being a woman may be more challenging than ever before. On your Christian blog, you could examine how Christians can maintain a biblical worldview amidst an onslaught of shifting cultural norms attacking traditional gender roles, marriage, and morality.
  7. Prayer and Spiritual Growth: While much has been written on prayer and spiritual growth, these continue to be areas of need for new generations. As a Christian blogger, you might provide practical guidance on deepening one’s prayer life and spiritual growth journey by offering tips for connecting with God in a variety of meaningful practices, like prayer.
  8. Christian Worship in the 21st Century: You might explore diverse worship styles, including contemporary, traditional, and culturally specific forms of worship, on your Christian blog and highlight their significance and impact.
  9. Environmental Stewardship: Christians need to be involved in the discussion about caring for our environment. On your blog, you could discuss what the Christian responsibility is for looking after the environment and share insights on sustainable living practices that align with biblical teachings.
  10. Create Relevant Bible Studies: Last but not least, you might consider providing your readers with in-depth studies of specific Bible passages or characters and helping readers connect familiar stories to contemporary challenges while encouraging readers to apply biblical wisdom to their lives.

I don’t recommend that you tackle all of these issues on your Christian blog, but you certainly can if you want. However, I think it would be wiser to focus on 2-3, or even 4-5, topics. Also, don’t forget to approach these topics with sensitivity, respect, and a commitment to biblical truth.

What topics come to mind that you might consider addressing on your Christian blog?

Please keep praying for my team as we serve the homeless community in Dallas. So far, we’ve been open longer nearly 35 days this Summer. I’m glad we’re able to offer a refuge from the extreme heat to our neighbors living life on the streets.

Thanks for reading my blog. Feel free to leave a comment and share your thoughts.

Gratefully,

  11. Thanks, David. I enjoy your posts about your god following Jesus. Unfortunately, I haven’t done a good job keeping up with my fellow bloggers the past few weeks. My most popular posts seem to be on blogging. Maybe the Lord is trying to tell me something. Thanks for your prayers and encouragement. Happy blogging!

  13. Your excellent topics provide a launch pad for multiple posts. This is good food for thought, brother! Thank you for putting this together. Since this past spring, I’ve experimented with writing Christian historical fiction on my blog. These posts, about a dog who followed Jesus in NT times, aren’t my most viewed but I enjoy writing them.

At my school we stay inside for recess when the heat index is over 100 degrees F. Friday, it hit 112! Frankly, I’m praying for early fall-like weather, brother! 🙏May God continue to bless your efforts with the chronically homeless in Dallas. Hopefully, everyone will make it through this heat wave alive and well. Blessings!

Thank you, Rainer, for this comprehensive list of topics for Christian blogging. I think many of our posts address the topics you mentioned, but we need titles that draw people with specific needs. Titles and first sentences are so important to capturing a reader’s attention. You do a great job! Keep writing. Thank you for the prayer request. I’ll be praying for your ministry.

  15. Thank you, Chad. I’m hopeful that we will boldly and courageously engage the community around us with the good news of Jesus Christ as we address these important topics. The church can’t stay silent just because it makes us uncomfortable.

Thanks for sharing these great ideas! Stay safe out there in that Texas heat. I really think all of these topics are relevant in today’s world, and the first one resonates with me. I think mental health is a vital field that has risen in popularity over the last decade. It’s important that Christians help people discover hope and faith through their trials and difficulties. May the Lord continue to bless you and your ministry!
