October 3 | Who’s Money Is It Anyway?

What if I told you that your money isn’t actually yours? You’d probably freak. But, truthfully, it’s not. At best, it’s only temporarily ours. After all, we can’t take it with us when we die.

God created everything. Therefore, everything we have is from the Lord. That includes the money we earn and possess.

To be clear, God doesn’t need money. Not yours. Not your neighbors. Not mine.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:1

What we do with our money isn’t about what God needs. It’s about our abiding in Him. What we do with our money is about stewardship and trust.

What we do with our money demonstrates what we believe about God. It shows us where our priorities are and what we deem important. As believers, the most important thing we can do is please God by our obedience and through our faithfulness. We look to see where God is at work and join Him in doing that work.

That means we give our money to support the advancement of the Kingdom. We do this to encourage people who are in need and to show them that there exists a God who loves them and cares about them.

We give our money to honor God for His goodness in our lives. The Lord has blessed us richly and abundantly, far beyond anything any of us deserve. Giving is an act of worship that shows reverence to our Creator and Heavenly Father.

Keeping our financial house in order helps us be cheerful givers and empowers us to give generously.

We don’t have to be wealthy. We just need to be good stewards of what God has provided us. He will do the rest.

Remember : keep the main thing the main thing.

Manage your money wisely so that you can give freely. It’s all God’s anyways.

I pray you’re enjoying our #Blogtober adventure focusing on the theme of generosity from a Christian perspective. May you be equipped and edified through this journey and most importantly—may God be exalted and glorified.

I look forward to seeing you in the “comments”!

Abundant Blessings,

  5. I try to keep in mind the first verse of Psalm 24: “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it …” Your blog post today was a great reminder that everything we have is really just on loan to us, an undeserved gift from God. Thank you!
