What’s Renting Free Space in Your Head Today?

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve lived clean and sober for more than a minute. Even after all these years, my recovery requires I actively work on it. Daily quotes from The Grapevine help me do that by offering me helpful reminders about guarding things like my heart and especially my thinking.

I needed this reminder today as things are swirling around in my head at lightning speed. Perhaps you do, too.

What thoughts have you invited to play in the sandboxes of your mind lately? If you’re like me, then it’s imperative you monitor your thoughts and what you let rent space in your head. #recovery #encouragement #odaat #mentoring

Grapevine Daily Quote February 7, 2023

Getting clean and sober and staying clean and sober requires a willingness to live a different life than the one you’ve been living. You don’t have to stay sick and tired. You can live abundantly and blessed.

During a recent conversation with a friend, he asked me about my struggles with addiction because he was wrestling with some issues of his own.

I shared with him that because of alcohol and drugs my life had become unmanageable and that even though I wanted to stop the rollercoaster ride of my addiction, I had grown powerless over it. I came to the eye-opening realization that this bitch owned me and I was its slave—addiction had become my ride and die.

Ultimately, this led to a conversation with me and the Lord, as I understood God to be in that moment, on the living room floor of the house I lived in at the time.

The BEST Life

August 12, 1995 is a pretty long look back in the mirror. However, when it comes to my recovery, it’s still something I need to work on every day.

If you’re struggling with addiction, know you don’t have to go it alone. Reach out. Ask for help. Please. Do it for yourself. You won’t regret it.

Thankfully,
