Understanding the Happy in Easter

Contrary to popular belief, Easter isn’t about Easter bunnies and Easter eggs. Do rabbits even lay eggs? No, of course not.

Terri will tell you that it’s completely possible to go to church all of your life and not understand what Easter is. It happened to her. And then, one day, she read the words of John 14:6.

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

John 14:6 NLT

We know Easter to be a cornerstone of our Christian faith. It is a day that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Yep. that’s right. Crucified, dead, buried, resurrected. That’s Jesus.

Easter is a pivotal event because it represents the fulfillment of the prophecies of the Old Testament and establishes Jesus as the Son of God.

The significance of Easter lies in its assurance of hope, eternal life, and the victory over sin and death for all who believe in Jesus Christ.

In the Gospel of John, we find the resurrection described vividly. On that first Easter Sunday morning, Mary Magdalene visits the tomb only to find it empty. Then, Jesus appears to her, confirming He has risen.

“Mary!” Jesus said. She turned to him and cried out, “Rabboni!” (which is Hebrew for “Teacher”). “Don’t cling to me,” Jesus said, “for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”Mary Magdalene found the disciples and told them, “I have seen the Lord!” Then she gave them his message.

John‬ ‭20‬:‭16‬-‭18‬ ‭NLT

The resurrection is not only a testament to the divine nature of Jesus but also a cornerstone of Christian doctrine, providing believers with the hope of their own resurrection and life eternal.

Easter is a time of reflection, joy, and renewal, celebrating the victory of Jesus Christ over death and His promise of eternal life to all who believe in Him. Jesus is the HAPPY in Easter.

He is Risen!
