What Bible Character Would You Be?

Like you, I get these daily prompts. Lots of times, I skip over them. Occasionally, I run across a prompt that piques my interest but that I want to tailor to my Christian blog.

If you could be a character from a book or film, who would you be? Why?

In response to this prompt, I decided to rephrase the question and ask if you could be a character from the Bible (apart from Jesus, obviously), who would you be and why?

A rough estimate counts over 3,000 distinct individuals in the Old and New Testament.

Do you know how many books are in the Bible?

This is a question our homeless guests often ask our Saturday volunteers.

The answer:

66 books total.

39 Old Testament, 27 New Testament.

Each character, be it a major player like Moses and Paul, or lesser-known roles like Jael or Eunice, plays a pivotal role in advancing the overarching story of God’s relationship with His creation: US.

Through their stories, fraught with triumphs and failures, we discover timeless lessons on faith, obedience, courage, and redemption. Their stories, imbued with spiritual and moral lessons, resonate throughout the ages, inviting us to reflect on our own faith journey and the virtues we hope to embody.

What biblical character would you be if you could be one?

Me?

I’m still considering my answer.

Blogging is a unique blend of communication, evangelism, and personal reflection.

From my perspective as a Christian blogger, Paul stands out as a Biblical character who might closely relate to the role of a blogger today.

Paul employed letters to reach communities across great distances, similar to how we, as bloggers, communicate with our audience.

Paul was dedicated to spreading the message of the Gospel and teaching people about faith, love, redemption, and the nature of Jesus.

Paul also leveraged his personal experiences, highs and lows, offering his life as a testament to God’s grace and power.

Does my blog do that?

But then, there’s the getting beaten, stoned, shipwrecked, jailed, and beheaded thing that I’m not all too keen on experiencing.

I look forward to hearing your response revealing your choice of Biblical character that you’d most like to be.

Don’t forget to tell somebody about Jesus!

  1. Amen 🙏 I think a big part of it is showing up faithfully by writing new content that we’ve prayed over and thought about prior to posting it. The Lord doesn’t waste anything. He uses it all for His glory.

  2. As I began reading this post, my thoughts previewed various saints found in the Bible. I feel drawn to Paul because my own journey of faith has encountered a few torrential storms (blessed that my boat didn’t sink). One feels a spiritual depth in Paul’s writings, as He expresses God-inspired thoughts. When I started this blog in the fall of 2018, I was looking for an outlet to venture into something new after finishing 40 years in the classroom. Like Paul, I am humbled by this journey as God continues to encourage my faith-based writing as well as treating all who read and comment with kindness and gratitude.
