My Mother’s Day Post

Through my work, God provides me the honor and opportunity of serving others and worshipping Him each and every day. I get to use my skills, talents, and gifts to love others and help them grow in their relationship with Jesus. Some of what I do is very tangible—like making sure we have the food to feed people and the resources to clothe them after a hot, refreshing shower. I am constantly looking at ways to beautify our facility while ensuring things work properly. I make the things happen that we want to happen and prevent those things from happening that we don’t want to happen.

Most of my job entails directing others as we collectively serve a community of our neighbors, volunteers, and donors.

I lead a team of people who love Jesus.

Much of my week is spent in one on one conversations mentoring and discipling others. My job is to grow people. On occasion, I may teach a Bible study or preach a sermon. But, the heart of what I do lies in the individual interactions I have with others. I recognize that I may be the only Bible that some of them will ever read.

In my day-to-day, I am continually growing in my faith as I hope you are too.

We live in strange, disconcerting times that yearn for the Truth. There is an electrifying current of dysphoria flowing through virtually everything.

Making sense of it, apart from seeking the Truth of Scripture and abiding confidently in my Lord and Savior, can be an insurmountable task.

With each passing year, I draw closer to becoming 60. Mind-blowing for a guy who once upon a time didn’t want to live past 27. I wanted to burn out, not fade away. Looking back, I am grateful for God’s grace and mercy.

Today, I live a beautiful life with my even more beautiful wife, Terri. The majority of my relationships are healthy.

I want to foster awareness and cultivate understanding because we are all image bearers of God and therefore deserving of being seen, heard, and valued.

None of this would be possible without my Mom. Happy Mother’s Day!

You are loved.
