Terri will tell you that I love to read.
I find that I am reading thin books these days. My attention span seems to be growing shorter due to numerous interruptions and demands on my time. “Squirrel!”
My day-to-day routines and rituals hinge on keeping numerous competing tasks and responsibilities in play, similar to juggling flaming chainsaws.
I find myself preferring smaller, more intense doses in many areas of my life. I want to slow down and take time focusing on what matters most and the people who mean the most. Do you find that is true for you?

My Low-Down Skinny on Thinner Reads
Perceived Time Commitment: For starters, thin books often seem less daunting and suggest a quicker read, which can be appealing for those of us who have a busy schedule or prefer finishing books quickly.
Faced with the challenge of reading something thick, I sometimes struggle to find the time or stamina to finish reading what I started. A shorter read increases the likelihood that I am will likely read through to the finish.
Portability: My work backpack is full and heavy. Thinner books are easier to carry around, making them more convenient for reading on the go.
Carrying less baggage around is actually something my friends experiencing homelessness have taught me how to do better.
Sense of Accomplishment: Finishing a book provides me with a sense of achievement. I feel good after I’ve finished reading a book. How about you?
Thin books allow for more frequent completions, giving me that rewarding feeling more often.
Roll out the dopamine.
Focus and Engagement: Shorter books often offer a more focused narrative, making it easier to remain engaged compared to longer, more complex reads.
Reading Preferences: If you prefer concise writing and storytelling that gets to the point quickly, thinner books are for you.
My hope is that unwrapping these reasons will help you make reading choices that align closer to your reading preferences, enhancing your overall reading experience.
That said, I recently started reading a new book, that although not super thick is really deep. I look forward to sharing more about it with you in the days and weeks ahead.

That’s my low-down skinny on thinner reads.

I pray you have a splendid Memorial Day weekend. Remember the why behind this holiday. People died so that we might enjoy the freedoms we are blessed to have today. Freedom is never free.
“As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you.“
1 Samuel 12:23a NIV
How can I be praying for you?
I look forward to hearing from you in the comments.
Praying for us.
You are loved.

“juggling flaming chain saws,” I can relate, brother. I like reading, too, especially non-fiction. About five years ago, I bought a Kindle e-reader. It’s not the same as a hardcover book, but close. Blessings to you and Terri.
