Wednesday Wisdom

Friends—welcome to a new feature here on my blog, The Devotional Guy™, called Wednesday Wisdom.

I believe that the Bible serves as a profound source of wisdom, offering guidance for living a life that is pleasing to God and beneficial to others.

For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

Proverbs 2:6 NIV

The Scriptures provide insight into the nature of God, the human condition, and the path of righteousness. Through the Bible’s teachings, stories, and laws, individuals can find direction, comfort, and hope.

In addition to the Bible, we are blessed with other modern voices offering wisdom. In Wednesday Wisdom, we will explore a blend of biblical sagacity and modern sources of wisdom. We will attempt to incorporate some humor along the way.

Today’s dose of wisdom and humor stems from Erma Bombeck, who was known for her wit and humorous take on everyday life. She had a wonderful way of blending humor with wisdom.

Erma Bombeck’s

Homespun Wisdom

  1. “When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, ‘I used everything you gave me.’”
  2. “Worry is like a rocking chair: it gives you something to do but never gets you anywhere.”
  3. “Housework, if you do it right, will kill you.”
  4. “The grass is always greener over the septic tank.”
  5. “Seize the moment. Remember all those women on the Titanic who waved off the dessert cart.”
  6. “Guilt: the gift that keeps on giving.”
  7. “If you can’t make it better, you can laugh at it.”

Friend—do any of these resonate strongly with you?

Thanks for reading, my friend. Until my next post…

Be salty, stay lit.
