Beloved Believer, What Apps Do You Use to Strengthen and Support Your Faith?

The advent of technology has impacted virtually every area of our lives, including how we stay connected to God and His Word. Just like you probably do, I’ve got several apps on my phone geared to Bible study, spiritual wellness, and growing closer to God in my walk with Jesus. During a recent conversation, my friend David shared he discovered the Abide app and enjoys using it to stay grounded in his walk with the Lord.

One of the apps I love is the YouVersion Bible. YouVersion is a digital ministry of Life.Church, a church that meets in multiple locations around the United States as well as globally through Church Online. In response to seeing the struggle people had reading the Bible consistently, they created and launched the YouVersion Bible in 2006. I know my wife Terri loves this app as well and that it is part of her regular time with God.

Dwell is another app that I enjoy to help me go more in depth in my Bible reading. I’ve learned that sometimes it’s easier for me to listen to someone reading the Bible than it is for me to read it. Naturally, it’s enhanced my listening skills.

I recently discovered Calm. It’s a wonderful app to help me as I recover from PTSD and other spiritual struggles. Through this app, I am learning breathing techniques I can employ that help me relax and also respond better to external stimuli.

Logos is an app I’ve used a good while, especially to help me create Biblical content for this blog and for sermon prep. It’s a very comprehensive tool packed with resources that I’d otherwise be unable to access.

Finally, another app I’ve been using off and on is the Seminary Now app. It’s a seminary education at my fingertips. I hope to use it more consistently to help me with creating Biblically sound content for this blog.

What apps are you using to strengthen and support your faith?

Be salty, stay lit.

Since starting this new ministry two years ago, I’ve been using Bible software with Accordance, which has proven to be very helpful. Accordance is very expensive for me and Accordance is provided through the current ministry. I’m at.

  3. Thanks for sharing these Apps. I had not heard of some so will have a look. I still use Bible Gateway, Lectio 365 (daily prayers/Bible readings) and I like Everyday Faith which is the Church of England app with daily Bible readings, prayer and a challenge.

My main Bible study app for most purposes is E – Sword which is a great app that has been around for many years, and it is free. I can use several Bible versions and commentaries amongst other resources. I read my Spurgeon devotional on it. It is available as a PC or Android app. Nowadays my main reading is done using the YouTube audio Bible with my Bible reading schedule on my Foxit PDF Editor. We certainly are blessed with many great resources to read and study God’s Word.

  9. I also love the YouVersion Bible app. I especially like their daily devotion and their Bible study plans-so many to choose from. I really like an app called Relax with C.A.R.E. They have sleep music, guided meditations, and absolutely beautiful nature videos to great music. Their sleep music is to a backdrop of planets and galaxies, so cool! I use this now instead of Calm. I will check out Dwell, thank you for sharing these recommendations!
