Good morning, Friend!
It’s been a busy week chocked full of good things and great times. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to concentrate on my blog much this week, but that’s sometimes how a week goes. I’m behind on my reading and commenting, as well as my writing.
After officiating a funeral on Saturday, I drove down to Marshall to visit my Mom. I got to spend Mother’s Day with my Mom—which was fantastic. She and I visited a new church in her hometown. Sometimes, we need to go visit some place different to appreciate what we have and also, to see things with a fresh set of eyes. The church we visited is larger than hers and teaches the Bible by going verse by verse, rather than tying a thought into a theme. Exegesis is a more in-depth explanation and interpretation of the Bible text. The sermon focused on Mark 10:13-16. We may explore this passage in a future post. The worship was also more contemporary.
On Monday, Mom and I travelled to Rockwall to visit her eye doctor. She is undergoing treatment for her macular degeneration. Afterwards, we were able to catch up with Terri and her beloved parents at a place off Lake Ray Hubbard. We enjoyed dinner and catching up as a family before I drove Mom back home. Since getting back to Dallas, I’ve focused on my fitness and doing things around our home.

Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring—what your life will be! For you are like vapor that appears for a little while, then vanishes.
James 4:14 CSB
James, brother of Jesus, observed life is but a vapor. Solomon, in all his wisdom, noted that there is a season for everything—a time to be born and a time to die. Experience teaches us it’s what we do with the dash in between our first breath and our last that matters. No one will fight harder for your wellbeing than YOU. No one can. You can start by taking a small step forward. Before you know it, you’ll be on the road to recovery.
3 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 NIV

I thank you for reading my post this morning. I pray your weekend is joy-filled and restful. May you spend it with those you love.
Until my next post…
Be salty, stay lit.
