Wednesday Wisdom | 10 Bible Verses Focusing on Gratitude

Hello Friends! Welcome to another edition of Wednesday Wisdom.

Gratitude is a game-changer.

I believe that thankfulness (the Biblical term for gratitude) plays a key role in our fitness and overall wellbeing. Thanksgiving is the foundation of Christian worship and serves as a hallmark of our following Christ. Those who love the Lord are to be a thankful people.

Whenever you’re feeling blue, down in the dumps, discouraged, or less than, try and shift your focus to something (or someone) you’re grateful to have in your life. Maybe it’s simply that you woke up on the right side of the dirt today. Whatever it is, express your gratitude for it and praise the Lord for providing it.

Dissatisfaction is the human feeling of emptiness and unfulfilment typically marked by complaining, grumbling, and ingratitude. Again, those who follow Jesus are to be a grateful witness to Him.

Now—hot of the press—are 10 Bible verses emphasizing the importance of gratitude:

  1. “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – NIV
  2. “Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” Psalm 100:4 NIV
  3. “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”
    Colossians 3:15 NIV
  4. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6 NIV
  5. “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.” Psalm 136:1 ESV
  6. “giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Ephesians 5:20 ESV
  7. ‘Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever.” Psalm 118:1 HCSB
  8. “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.” 2 Corinthians 9:15 HCSB
  9. “Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.” Hebrews 12:28 NLT
  10. “Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him.” Psalm 95:2 NLT

These beautiful, powerful verses remind us of the importance of maintaining a grateful heart and the many reasons we have to express our thankfulness to God. I pray that they would encourage and inspire you to cultivate a heart of gratitude in your life.
