Saturday in the Word | The Gospel is More Caught Than Taught

Friends, welcome to Saturday in the Word. Today is the last day in May! Can you believe it? 2025 is flying by at breakneck speed.

You probably know that people learn more by observing our actions than they do by the words we say. Talk—as they say—is cheap. Actions speak louder than words.

That’s why I believe that the Gospel—the Good News of Jesus Christ—is more caught than taught.

We can speak the speak, use Christian words, and employ religious language. Our actions are where the rubber meets the road. What we do reveals what we truly believe. When it comes to being witnesses for Jesus, we can tell the talk. But, do we walk the walk?

People embrace the message of the Gospel when they see it lived out in someone’s life. The Good News is transmitted powerfully through intentional relationships, daily interactions, and our consistent witness. When we are authentic and practice genuine love and grace, others are drawn to the transformation they see in us.

My encouragement to you, dear friend, is to guard your witness closely. God wove His story in you so allow His work to shine boldly through you.

I’m not saying teaching and preaching aren’t important. They are. But, I am emphasizing that embodied truth—when belief becomes practice—has the power to transforms hearts in ways we can only begin to imagine. No one is too far out of reach for the Gospel.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Matthew 28:19-20 NIV

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to catch up with a couple of friends, including my fellow blogger extraordinaire, Nathan Dooley, who creates great content on his blog Time for Providence.

We prayed together and shared how God has been showing up in our lives. Nate has a genuine love for the Lord and heart for people to come to know Jesus. It’s a beautiful thing to see.

We also spent a good deal of time talking about blogging and how to navigate a blogosphere flooded with content. It’s important to remember our who and our why so we don’t stray off track.

All in all, it was awesome catching up with Nate in person. He’s a pretty cool dude. I hope you’ll check out his blog.

Remember: Put some Bible on it!

Praying you live well and love well.

Until my next post…

Good and important point brother Rainer – our actions speak far louder than mere words ever can. There is a place to share a testimony and the gospel, but folk are more attentive to the application of what we believe. I saw this recently with someone I was talking with often; it was the reality of answered prayers that touched them most of all. That is great news about your meet up with a fellow blogger. May our Father God continue to guide and bless you each day brother 🙏
