Welcome friends! In this week’s edition of Saturday in the Word, I want to explore my belief that everyone is born with the innate ability to be creative.
We know from Scripture that all human beings are created in the image of God. This beautiful truth includes the capacity for creativity.
In the very beginning, we see God’s creative nature displayed throughout creation.
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may ruleover the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.Genesis 1:26-27 NIV
Genesis 1:26-27 highlights that as image-bearers of God, we humans possess the ability to create. From the artistry of painting and music to the innovation in technology and solutions to life’s problems, our creativity reflects the Creator’s own creativity.
YES—solving problems is a creative activity.
In Exodus 35:30-33, we see God not only encourages creativity but also equips individuals with talents and specific skills to utilize that creativity for His glory.
30 Then Moses said to the Israelites, “See, the Lord has chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, 31 and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills— 32 to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, 33 to cut and set stones, to work in wood and to engage in all kinds of artistic crafts.
Exodus 35:30-33 NIV
Bezalel and Oholiab, filled with the Spirit of God, are blessed with wisdom, understanding, and knowledge in all manner of craftsmanship.

Human creativity is not only limited to artistic expressions. Each of our lives are uniquely crafted with intentional purpose, encouraging us to explore the creative potential within each of us to serve others and fulfill God’s plans.
Creativity encompasses the way we think, solve problems, and interact with the world around us.
10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10 NIV
Friends, embracing our innate creativity is a way to honor God and serve others. It is a blessing that can bring beauty and innovation to the world, and through it, we are able to reflect God’s character and nature. Whether through art, science, or everyday actions, you and I are invited to participate in the divine creative process. How cool is that?
YES—you my friend, are born to be creative!

Know you are loved.
Until my next post…
Be salty, stay lit.
