Time is a funny thing.
Most days, I’m aware of time ticking by like a metronome in the background. Oddly enough, I feel it when I’m walking or working out, especially if the finish line feels far away. But there are these rare, beautiful moments when time seems to loosen its grip. Moments when the minutes dissolve into something bigger, something deeper. That’s when I know I’ve entered the flow.

For me, that often happens when I’m making art. There’s this shift, almost spiritual, where the brush or pen becomes an extension of me and everything else fades away. Inside this creative bubble, time disappears.
Blogging works in a similar way. I’ll sit down to draft a post and BAM! two hours are gone. Not wasted, but woven into something meaningful. That’s the beauty of doing work that resonates with who you are: it suspends time.
I believe we all have activities where we’re so fully present we forget everything else. Time flows as these actives remind us of what we’re made for.
What about you?
Which activities make you lose track of time?

Let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear from you.

“Suspending time,” what a lovely way to describe it. I feel that when I write, enjoying a creative activity (my like to try new things, so whatever the thing is at the moment) when I study Bible verses, and when I listen to music. Thank you for a adding beautiful thoughts to my day, Rainer!

By the way, this post is an example of time getting away. I had intended to publish it Friday evening. Turns out I published it Thursday morning (America Time) 😂.

Thank you, Alan, for sharing your beautiful comment. I’m thrilled to see your new venture into art and overjoyed it is bringing you peace and satisfaction. Yes, I, too, get caught up in exploring and examining God’s Word. Thank you for your kind thoughts toward Terri and I. May God bless you and your beloved as well. 🙏

Good day Rainer 🌞
I agree that time seems to pass quickly when we are ‘in the zone’ to use the phrase; when our heart and mind are focussed on something. Then I find myself doing a double-take at my watch when I see the time, which is followed by a feeling of satisfaction and peace. I also find this when a chapter or verse of Scripture grips my attention, and I read it in various places and references. Sometimes these flow easily which is a good sign. With regards to my recent discovery of art, it is the same but different, if you get the drift of my meaning. It is a different path for my personal enjoyment, which brings a bit of peace too. God bless you and Terri today 🙏
