Why I Blog

In 2007, I rededicated my life to Jesus. That moment began an adventure that would be filled with unexpected twists and turns including seasons of ministry in churches, walking alongside grieving families, and serving men and women experiencing homelessness in Dallas. Along this journey, I’ve witnessed beauty juxtaposed next to brokenness, experienced heartfelt joy and deep sorrow, and encountered hope and despair.

I started blogging to share Jesus and the teachings of Scripture with others. I wanted to TESTIFY to God’s goodness in my life. Pretty quickly, it became clear that I needed to use my blog to help me process challenging life experiences and share them with others as well.

I blog because I want people to see God at work. I’m trying to bear witness to His unmerited grace and unconditional love. Through the years, my blog has morphed into something more than a recording of events. The blog itself had become a way to minister to others by sharing lessons learned, timeless truths discovered, and the nearness of God in everyday life.

Why do you blog?

I blog because I believe stories matter. My own story is just one thread in a much larger tapestry, but when I write, I hope others can see glimpses of their own journey reflected back at them. Maybe I can help someone today. Whether someone is wrestling with grief, searching for purpose, or simply needing a reminder of God’s love, my prayer is that my words create space for connection and hope.

In part, the mission of The Devotional Guy™ is to encourage hearts, inspire faith, and remind people that they are seen, known, and loved by God. I want my writing to be a means of helping others find stillness in a noisy world, courage in the midst of struggle, and grace for the road ahead.

So why do I blog? Because words matter. Stories matter. People matter. And sometimes, the right words at the right time can change everything.

Friend, let me ask you: why do you blog?

Thanks for reading.

Until my next post…

Be salty, stay lit.
