For many of us September 11th forever marks a deep wound in the heart of our nation. On that fateful morning in 2001, ordinary people woke up to go about their everyday lives. They were catching flights, heading into the office, and serving their communities, not knowing that the day would end in tragedy. On that day, nearly 3,000 lives were lost. Countless others were changed forever.
For those of us who remember where we were, the images remain etched in our souls: towers crumbling, first responders running toward danger, and an entire nation united in shock and grief.

But even in the ashes, a glimmer of light broke through as strangers carried one another. Communities gathered in prayer and a generation learned that courage often looks like quiet faithfulness in the face of fear.
John 13:34 ESV
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
As we pause today, may we not only remember the lives lost but also renew our commitment to live with love, compassion, and courage. May we remember how united we were that day and in the days after. May the Lord, our God, heal our great divide.
Jesus reminds us: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God”(Matthew 5:9). In a fractured world, we Christians are called to be carriers of peace and agents of reconciliation. Too often, we are pouring fuel on the fire or worse—silently going about our business as if there were no world needing our witness.
May you and I choose to honor the memory of 9/11 by living in a way that chooses love over hate, unity over division, and faith over fear.

September 11 Prayer
Lord, we lift up the families who continue to grieve, the heroes who gave their lives, and a nation still in need of Your healing. Heal our divide. Help us be people who sow peace in our communities and reflect Your light in dark places. Give us the courage to remain faithful witnesses to Your holy goodness in a world desperately needing a Savior. In the mighty, powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
