On many levels, this week has been exhausting and difficult for a myriad of reasons. My heart is deeply trouble for our nation. Christianity is a faith birthed into a troubled world. At the time, the Roman Empire found itself immersed in a drowning wave of continuous demoralization and growing evil. Maybe that should be evil with a capital “E” so that we don’t underestimate its generational tentacles?
Truthfully, many Believers find themselves worn out and weary this morning.
The Apostle Paul understood this feeling all too well. In his letter to the church in Galatia, he encourages the Christians to persist in doing good.
Galatians 6:9 ESV
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Even when the outcome seems distant and far away or when we feel ourselves to be discouraged, God promises a reward for our efforts. Our work is not done in vain. Our witness is not meaningless.
The Apostle Paul reminds all Believers, then and now, of the importance of keeping our commitment to goodness and kindness in our lives, no matter the challenges we face. No matter what.

I get it, friend. Life definitely has a way of wearing us down. The daily grind, the unexpected setbacks, and the moments when it seems like our efforts go unnoticed leave us weary. Sadly, doing good doesn’t always come with instant results. In fact, we may never see the results on this side of Heaven. Doing good sometimes feels like we are pouring water into dry ground.
Paul urges us not to lose heart. He reminds us the good we do matters, even when we don’t see the outcome right away. God’s timing isn’t our timing, and the harvest doesn’t always come in the season we expect. Yet, God’s promise remains: if we persist, if we keep showing up with kindness, faithfulness, and love, the fruit will come. No doubt. Bank on it.
Think about a time when you planted some seeds in a pot or in the ground. You likely didn’t expect a big harvest the next morning, did you? No. You waited, tended to the soil, trusted the process, and believed in the promise of growth. You knew that if you watered it and cared for it, something would come out of the soil one day. Friend, we are called to trust that God sees our faithfulness in the same way.
Perhaps today you’re tempted to call it quits. I get it. Been there, got the t-shirt. What happens if you quit serving, quit loving, quit believing that your efforts matter? Evil wins.
Trust that the Spirit of God is at work in and through you.
While your harvest may not look like what you envisioned, trust that it will come in God’s time, in God’s way, for God’s glory.

A Prayer
Dear Lord, my God, when I feel tired and discouraged, give me strength. Please remind me that the work I do for You is never in vain. Help me trust Your timing and keep my hands to the plow until the harvest You have promised comes. In Jesus’ Name.Amen.
My brother and my sister—if you’re feeling weary or in need of motivation, remember that your actions contribute to a greater purpose, and perseverance is a vital part of faith.
