Let’s Stop Talking About Race and Start Talking About Jesus

Friends, the painful truth is the more we keep talking about race, the more we divide, resegregate, and rebuild the very walls Christ tore down.

Ephesians 2:14 NLT

For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us.

Our culture pretends it is seeking unity, while in reality feeding off division. When race becomes the idol we bow to, and the lens through which everything is filtered, we reduce people to skin color and background rather than seeing them as image-bearers of the living God. We proclaim inclusion, yet our conversations create exclusion. We demand justice, yet we sow bitterness and suspicion.

This is not the way of the Kingdom. The Gospel proclaims a much better story: in Christ there is no Jew or Greek, slave or free, male or female for all are one in Him (Galatians 3:28). In our modern context: there is no Black, no White, no higher or lower class, no unredeemable or unwelcome; these divisions are man-made. In the eyes of the Christ the King there are only image-bearers of our God Most High. By resurrecting the categories Christ crucified we deny the power of His work on the Cross. And that just ain’t right.

It is painfully obvious that we cannot share the Gospel half-heartedly. We must proclaim it boldly. The time has come and gone to stop glorifying what separates us and start magnifying the One who unites us. The Church must rise up and prophetically declare: WE WILL NOT BE DIVIDED BY RACE, CLASS, OR CULTURE. We belong to a Kingdom where every tribe, tongue, and nation worship the Lord together before His throne (Revelation 7:9).

If we truly long for healing, we must shift our eyes off the endless debates about race and fix them on Jesus, who alone makes us one. Let’s stop talking about race and start talking about Jesus!

My Prayer for US
Lord, forgive us for rebuilding walls You died to destroy. Give us courage to call out division for what it is. Empower us to live as Your prophetic people—united, holy, and filled with love that transcends every earthly category. In Jesus’ name, by the power of the Spirit. Amen.
