Saturday in the Word | Anchored in Truth

It’s been another week of craziness. In Dallas, we had another violent shooting that made national headlines and appears to be politically motivated. There seems to be a total disregard and distain for the truth and for what is good and holy.

John 17:17 NIV

Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.

It also seems like each week the world hurls a thousand things at us, each one crazier than the next. The noise from the sea of voices ranging from news headlines, advertisements, and influencers elevate our own fears. Fear produces more noise. While some voices soothe, others inflame and some even deceive. It’s not like much has changed since the days of Adam and Eve in the Garden. In the middle of all the noise, we need an anchor for truth.

Jesus prayed for His disciples—that’s you and me—that we would be sanctified in the truth. Not in the culture’s opinions or political spin or in our fleeting emotions. But, in truth— in God’s Word.

When I open my Bible, I’m reminded that it isn’t just another book I own. It is the living Word of God, sharper than any sword, able to divide truth from lies, and strong enough to guide me through the confusion of the day. That’s powerful!

In seasons of grief, God’s Word comforts us. In times of uncertainty, God’s Word directs us. In moments of joy, God’s Word grounds us. God’s Word is always there when we need it. Always.

Staying in the Word is a rhythm and a chance to reorient our hearts for what lies ahead. As we read, study, and meditate on God’s Word, we are not just filling our minds with knowledge; we are inviting the Spirit to transform us from the inside out.

I encourage you that today, before the busyness of errands or the hum of distractions takes over, pause and open your Bible. Let His Word sanctify you. Let His truth wash over you like living water.

Because when the noise of the world grows loud, the Word of God whispers louder still: “I am with you. I will never leave you. My Word is truth.”

A Prayer

Gracious Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your Word that anchors us in truth. In a world full of noise and distraction, help us to be still and listen to Your voice. Sanctify us by Your truth, and shape us into the likeness of Your Son. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Until my next post…

Be salty, stay lit.
