October is a creative month. Writers lean into #Blogtober, filling pages with words, as artists dive into #Inktober, putting ink to paper one day at a time. Whether we express through words or images, wisdom helps shape the journey.
#Blogtober is a month-long blogging challenge in October where writers, bloggers, and creators commit to publishing new content every day (or as often as possible) throughout the month.
#Inktober is a month-long art challenge held every October that encourages artists around the world to practice their craft by making one ink drawing each day.
It was started in 2009 by illustrator Jake Parker as a way to improve his inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. Since then, it’s grown into a global movement.
SO…are you ready to create???

Here are 10 nuggets of wisdom to guide both bloggers and artists alike this October:
- Begin with Courage: The first mark or word is the hardest; don’t wait for perfection, start anyway.
- Keep It Simple: Complexity often hides truth; clarity reveals it.
- Embrace the Imperfect: Ink smudges, words scramble, but beauty often lives in the real and unfinished. Find it.
- Consistency Builds Depth: A little each day adds up. The path to something profound is paved by small steps every day.
- See with Fresh Eyes: Wisdom often comes not from seeing more, but from seeing differently. Change your perspective.
- Listen Before You Create: Pay attention to what life is whispering before you put words or marks on paper.
- Find the Sacred in the Ordinary: A coffee cup, a shadow, a word can each unveil a revelation. This is something I believe the Lord has been showing me these past few months.
- Rest is Part of the Process: Another thing I’ve been learning in 2025. Pauses give space for meaning to surface. Letting (or getting) rest is a good thing.
- Create for Connection, Not Approval: Know the difference between what you control and what you don’t. Let your work build bridges, not just chase applause.
- Leave Room for Mystery: Not everything must be explained; sometimes the unspoken holds the greatest power. So let it speak.
Both blogging and inking are daily practices that push us past hesitation and toward growth. These wisdoms aren’t just about creating; they’re about living with intention, humility, and faith.

My friend: Which of these wisdoms do you most need to hold on to right now?
A Closing Prayer
Dear Gracious and Merciful Lord,
Thank You for being the Creator of all things, the One who inspires every word and every stroke of ink. Help us all to begin with courage, to embrace imperfection, and to find beauty in the ordinary. Teach us to rest, to listen, and to create not for applause but for connection. May our work, whether written or drawn, reflect Your wisdom and draw others closer to You. In Jesus’ mighty and powerful name, Amen.
