My first thought is “What is success?” I mean really, how do you define success?
When you think of the word “successful,” who’s the first person that comes to mind and why?
My mom is successful. Lord willing, she turns 88 next year. She navigated through a world at war as a child where daily and nightly bombing were an ever present reality. She fled her home.
She navigated moving to another country.
She navigated marriage.
She navigated the loss of my dad.
She’s navigated health challenges.
And yet, my mom maintains a positive outlook on life and remains our social butterfly.
In my book, my mom is successful in so many ways that the world often fails to count.
At the end of the day, I believe being successful comes from being who you are rather than who the world tells you to be. God only made one you. And He did so with a plan and a purpose.
Psalm 139:14 NIV
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

Until my next post…
Be salty, stay lit.

Amen. 🙏 Yes, and that may look and be different for each of us. And that’s okay. Thanks for reading and commenting. Apologies about my delayed response. Unfortunately your comment found its way into my spam folder. Blessings.

I hope we all find that certain feeling of being “successful” somewhere in our lives!

She is strong yet still tender and kind. Not sure how she manages it. Thanks so much for reading, Bridget.

Your mom sounds like a strong person. Thank you for this encouragement. I love the way you defined success. May we be the version of ourselves, and who God created us to be.

Love this “At the end of the day, I believe being successful comes from being who you are rather than who the world tells you to be. God only made one you. And He did so with a plan and a purpose.” Continue blessings to and for your mother.
