Blogging Beyond Words
When I started The Devotional Guy™, I never expected it to deepen my faith as much as it has. I thought I was simply sharing some encouragement, writing a few devotionals, and offering some reflections on life and ministry. But over time, I discovered that blogging wasn’t just a way to speak about faith but a way to practice it.
Each post morphed into a small act of faithfulness and obedience. Each word blossomed into a way of drawing closer to God.
Writing as Worship
For me, writing has grown to be a form of worship. When I sit before the blank screen, I’m not just creating content. I’m communing with my Creator.
Blogging has taught me to slow down, to listen, and to seek what God might be saying through the ordinary details of life. The process itself is prayerful and powerful. I’ve found it’s a way to pause and pay attention and to turn what I observe into an offering.
Blogging (and technology) is a beautiful gift from God. Why would I not want to use it as an offering of worship to Him?
Seeing God in Everyday Moments
Blogging has opened my eyes to God’s presence in places I might have overlooked such as the beauty and simplicity of the morning light streaming through a window, a stranger’s unexpected kind word, and even in difficult conversations leading to greater understanding and forgiveness.
When I write, I relive these moments. I notice God’s fingerprints more clearly.
God is always at work around us. Experience has taught me that faith deepens when we reflect on what we see God doing in and around our lives, and blogging gives me a sacred space to share that with others.
Community and Connection
Through blogging, I’ve met people from nearly every corner of the world, each with their own faith journey, questions, and prayers. Sometimes, the comment section feels like a congregation.
Blogging reminds me that no matter what we are going through we’re never walking alone. We know faith grows in fellowship and that words can bridge oceans when they’re rooted in God’s love and truth.
Trusting God with the Outcome
Early on, when I first started blogging, I frequently obsessed over numbers, views, likes, and shares. It’s the totally human thing to do. Gratefully, I now see blogging more like planting seeds. Naturally, some take root, some don’t. My job is to write faithfully and remember God handles the harvest.
That revelation has strengthened my faith more than any statistic ever could.
A Prayer for Writers of Faith
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of words.
Please use my writing to glorify You,
to encourage others and to remind me daily that faith is a journey that unfolds
one story at a time.
In Jesus’ name, by the Power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Suggested Action Step
This week, write a short reflection about where you see God working in your life right now. Don’t overthink it; just write from your heart. Friend, may you discover the act of writing is where your faith begins to grow deeper roots.

Until my next post…

Agreed – “see blogging more like planting seeds. Naturally, some take root, some don’t. My job is to write faithfully and remember God handles the harvest. That revelation has strengthened my faith more than any statistic ever could.”
