Being a Good Neighbor in a Hard World

We know our world can be rough. People are struggling, lonely, and carrying burdens we never see. So how can we be a good neighbor in such a hard world?

Being a good neighbor isn’t about grand gestures. It’s about presence, compassion, and attentiveness.

Being a good neighbor can be as simple as offering a listening ear, helping with a chore, or showing up consistently, even when no one is watching. In Hebrews 13:16, we are reminded not to forget to do good and to share our blessing with others.

Hebrews 13:16 ESV

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Sometimes, being a good neighbor means forgiving offenses, overlooking flaws, and choosing love over judgment. Other times, it’s standing firm in truth while still extending kindness. The key is intentionality: choosing to reflect God’s love in ways that matter most to the people around you.

Challenge: Today, notice one neighbor, coworker, or friend who could use a small act of kindness and take that step intentionally.

Until my next post…

Be salty, stay lit.
