The Long Obedience of Waiting Saints

Part of Advent is celebrating Jesus Christ who came. Another part of Advent is recognizing the Jesus Christ who will return. Many of the saints we have grown to admire never saw the full fruit of their faith. Abraham died still trusting the promise God made to him. Moses saw the land but did not enter it. Prophets spoke words they never lived to see fulfilled. Faithfulness, in Scripture, is not measured by outcomes but by obedience over time.

There are saints among us today whose prayers will be answered in another generation. Their obedience will shape futures they never witness.

Walking in faithful obedience is holy work. Quiet work. Often unseen.

God remembers every act of faith, every prayer whispered into the dark, every step taken without certainty.

Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Galatians 6:9 ESV

Wherever you are in the world, may this season of waiting draw you closer to the Light that has already come and is set to return.
