There is a temptation, especially in faith, to move on too quickly.
To move on from grief.
From confusion.
From the questions that refuse to behave.
But formation doesn’t happen in the moving on.
It happens in the staying.
Staying doesn’t mean resignation.
It means attention.
It means resisting the urge to fix, explain, or spiritualize what has not yet spoken its full truth.
Scripture reminds us:
Be still, and know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10 ESV
Stillness is not inactivity.
It is trust practiced slowly.
Through my continuing recovery from PTSD and complex bereavement, I’m learning that God meets us after we stop trying to resolve the moment.
Not with answers.
With presence.
And sometimes that is the holier gift.

Prayer:
Dear God, teach me how to stay without fear. Help me trust that Your presence is enough, even when nothing changes. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Until my next post…
Be salty, stay lit.
