Wednesday Wisdom: Build Community by Introducing Other Blogs

One of the quiet gifts of blogging is realizing you’re not meant to do it alone.

In a digital world driven by algorithms, metrics, and self-promotion, it’s easy to treat other bloggers as competition.

What if we were to put community over competition by introducing blogs we like to our own readers?

Eileen Guyadeen, who blogs at Quiet Moments With God does an excellent job introducing other blogs to her readers. Recently, I read one of her posts that introduced me to another blogger within the blog she shared.

Rosie Meadow, who blogs here, does this well, too. She regularly features other bloggers on her Highlights posts.

Introducing your readers to other blogs you value is one of the simplest and most generous ways to build a community of bloggers.

Not as an obligation.
Not as a strategy.
As an act of hospitality.

When you share another blogger’s work, you’re saying:

  • I see you.
  • Your voice matters.
  • There’s room for more than one story.

This does a few powerful things at once.

First, it reminds your readers that wisdom is communal. No single blog holds all the insight, experience, or perspective worth hearing. Pointing people outward actually strengthens trust in your own voice by showing you’re not trying to be the center of the blogosphere.

Second, it builds relational bridges. Bloggers who feel seen are more likely to engage, share, and walk alongside you. Over time, this creates a web of mutual encouragement rather than isolated platforms shouting into the void seeing who can make the most noise.

Third, it reshapes the culture of blogging itself. Instead of operating out of a mindset of scarcity (“What if they read them instead of me?”), we practice abundance (“There’s enough room in the Kingdom for all of us.”)

There are simple ways we can do this:

  • Highlight a blog you read regularly and share why it resonates with you.
  • Create a short “Blogs I’m Reading This Week” section and include it in your post.
  • Introduce newer or smaller blogs that might not get easily seen.
  • Invite guest posts or offer to write one in return.

None of this requires a big audience. It just requires intention.

Community isn’t built by shouting louder. It’s built by opening doors and inviting others into the room.

I believe that’s a quiet wisdom worth practicing.

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

Thank you for the shout out!
Great post – couldn’t have described the reasons to do it any better. In the post oven is why I started doing it, what post and blog brought the idea that others need to read this, and how it has grown. This is a great post of to be able to point to.
Thanks again for all your support ~ Rosie
