Bible Study Sunday: Finding Rest in Christ

Welcome to another installment of our weekly Bible Study Sunday feature as we continue our journey through the Gospel of Matthew.

For anyone navigating deep struggles like PTSD, grief, or the search for renewed confidence (like me), today’s passage can bring real comfort. Jesus sees our burdens and invites us to bring them to Him.

At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭25‬-‭30‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Revealing Truth to the Humble (Verses 25-27)

Jesus praises the Father for revealing profound truths not to the wise and learned but to “little children.” This teaches us the value of humility and openness in faith. Spiritual understanding often comes not through human wisdom, but through a childlike trust in God.

The Invitation to Rest (Verses 28-30)

Jesus calls all who are weary and burdened to Him, offering rest. This invitation reminds us that our struggles, anxieties, and pressures are seen and understood by Him. His “yoke” is gentle, His burden light—He invites us into a relationship of support, not obligation.

Learning from Jesus

Following Christ means learning from His example of gentleness and humility. In a world that constantly demands more of us, Jesus provides a model of strength rooted in peace, patience, and understanding.

May you find solace in Jesus’ words today. You are never alone—He walks with you, carrying the weight that feels too heavy to bear, and offers a rest that refreshes your soul.

Until my next post…

Be salty, stay lit.
