Wednesday Wisdom | Don’t Force It

My dad would often say, “If it doesn’t fit, don’t force it.” It’s one of his quips of wisdom that I’ve held onto.

I’ve found wisdom doesn’t always arrive with answers. Oftentimes, it shows up as restraint.

The older I get, the less impressed I am with certainty. Quick conclusions feel efficient, but they also bypass listening. They skip the slow work of presence.

Productivity urges us to believe that spiritual efficiency is just hurry wearing a halo.

But, wisdom waits. It notices what doesn’t need fixing yet. It honors what is unfinished without rushing it toward resolution.

Wisdom perseveres.

Some things are still becoming.
Some questions are holy precisely because they remain open.

Midweek reminds me of this:
Not everything is meant to be resolved by Friday. Truth ripens when we don’t harvest it too early.

Wisdom isn’t as much about knowing what to do next as it is knowing what not to force.

If it doesn’t fit, don’t force it.

Until my next post…

Be salty, stay lit.
