Trauma

A poem

Trauma teaches you
to adjust
to tolerate
to survive

to make a home
inside what is breaking you.

As if endurance were the goal…

Really?

Just leave.

  4. Danielle! It’s good to see you sharing again. The treasure is still within you, because you carry it with you. No one and nothing can take it away, sister. Chin up, child of God! 🙏❤️prayers and love.

  6. Thank you, Danielle. I’ve discovered trauma functions a lot like addiction (I’m also a recovering addict). When something has shaped our identity, our routine, our sense of self (even if it harmed us) releasing it feels like we’re losing a part of ourselves. My PTSD stems from a previous work situation. Not exactly where I expected to find myself halfway through 60, approaching 61.

Thanks for sharing and being open. Vulnerability is a precious and powerful thing. Blessings. 🙏

I just left…the relationship that was abusive and traumatic- my mental state is finally gaining some clarity – and not grieving the loss anymore of something was very horrible for me…why do we grieve what was bad for us?
It reminded me of when I stopped using drugs and alcohol- and I had to let go of them – and the people that i associated with around me when I used.
The relationship was another addiction to self harm….so strange why do we do this ?
I loved the poem!! loved 💕 thank you 🙏

  10. I get it, taking my baggage with me. I want to dump it on the side of the raod and leave it behind. Why do I keep driving back there and pick it up again?

  11. Leaving trauma in the dust sounds like a good plan. I’ve often daydreamed of moving to the isolated island of Saint Helena. It’s literally 1700 nautical miles from anywhere. It’s too bad I’d be packing my emotions along with me. I get it, brother, and my trauma meter is likely lower than yours. 🙏blessings.
