Conversations Overheard While Walking

A group of boys walked past me along the trail. They looked to be part of a PE class from a nearby junior high.

One boy asks another, “If your girl sent you a video of her cutting herself would you break up with her?”

The other boy, one of four, said, “Most definitely.”

Two girls walking, likely late teens maybe early twenties, were discussing a new app one of them found that rates girls by a number of stars. The more stars, the more desirable the girl.

I wonder what goes on in the minds of the young these days. Overwhelmed by social media, peers evaluating their every move and every look, drowning in darkness, where do they turn for help?

I look up to the mountains;
does my strength come from mountains?
No, my strength comes from God,
who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.
