The first rose of Spring bloomed this past Saturday, delicate and unexpected, standing brave ahead of the chill of an oncoming cold front. Its petals, soft and vivid, seem to whisper a warmth yet to come in a quiet defiance in the face of an ensuing frosty wind.
I wonder how often do we bloom like this—as life’s cold winds threaten to put our plans on ice—mustering courage to open, to shine, and offering beauty even when the world feels extremely unwelcoming? There’s a lesson to be found in this single rose blooming: growth is not only for calm, sunny days. It’s for the days when persistence matters most, when our hope is tested, and when life reminds us that resilience and beauty can emerge simultaneously, even amid the cold chill of resistance. As a matter of fact, facing resistance deepens our roots, making us stronger. Persistence breeds endurance.
Pause today. Notice the small signs of life pushing through and cherish the beginnings that refuse to wait for perfect conditions. And like the rose, bloom anyway.

Until my next post…
Be salty, stay lit.
