There’s a subtle kind of violence most of us live with every day that doesn’t come from the outside, but from within. It’s the voice in our mind that doesn’t know when to stop.
Keep going.
Do more.
Be better.
No time to slow down.
You should be further along by now.
And if we listen closely, we notice our body is telling us a completely different story.
Our body says:
I’m tired.
I need a moment.
This is too much.
Breathe.

Our mind can be relentless. It pushes, demands, and critiques. Over time, if we’re not careful, we begin to live as if our body is just something we drag along behind the will of our mind.
That’s not wisdom.
Wisdom is learning not to let our mind bully our body.
Not every thought deserves our obedience. Some thoughts are just noise, or fear pretending to be urgency.
Some thoughts are old voices we’ve carried for far too long. It’s easy to mistake them for our own.
Meanwhile, our body is trying to tell us the truth.
While there is a kind of strength that looks like pushing through, there is another kind of strength that runs quieter and deeper. It’s the strength that pause when everything in you says hurry. It knows to breathe when our mind says, “Prove yourself.”
But, my friend, we can choose presence over pressure. Presence is the greater treasure. You don’t have to win every argument your mind starts.

Reflection
What is being demanded of you right now? What is your body trying to tell you?
I urge you to consider choosing alignment over pressure because a life led by constant internal pressure isn’t sustainable. I know this to be true from experience.
When our mind and body work together, peace is usually present.
So slow down, listen. You’re allowed to live at a human pace.
Be salty, stay lit.

“Just noise,” “old voices,” not being bullied by our minds, – I agree, this is good wisdom!
