One thing I’ve learned about mentoring is I don’t have to have all the answers. Oftentimes, mentoring looks a lot like listening and asking good questions.
A good mentor shares a little of what they’ve learned. This is especially true of the lessons they learned the hard way.
Occasionally, a good mentor says, “I don’t know, but I’ll walk with you while we figure it out.”
Jesus didn’t simply give people answers. He walked with them. He asked questions. He listened. He challenged them. He encouraged them.
Maybe that’s part of our calling, too.
Your experience isn’t just for you.
Someone coming behind you may need to hear what you’ve learned, including the mistakes, the failures, the detours, and the grace that met you along the way.
Don’t worry about being the expert.
Just be willing to walk alongside someone.
Listen. Encourage. Ask. Share. Pray.
And point them toward Jesus.
The Lord can do a lot with a faithful mentor.

Wonderful advice we don’t have the answers but God does, we need to simply listen to the other person and God as we walk together on faith
