Wednesday Wisdom | Discernment

Friend, not every good opportunity is your opportunity nor is every good thing is something God is asking you to do.

That’s where discernment comes in.

Discernment is more than asking, “Is this a good thing?”

It’s asking, “Is this the thing God is asking me to do?”

I’ve been reminded of that lately.

I work alongside people who willingly leave their families for weeks at a time to serve others in need. I admire their willingness to go.

But I’ve also realized that is not my calling.

And that’s okay.

Sometimes wisdom is knowing when to say yes and knowing when to say no.

And sometimes wisdom is having the humility to recognize that God may be calling someone else to do the thing you admire.

Discernment is learning to recognize the difference.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

Lord, give us wisdom to know what You are calling us to and the courage to follow.

Until my next post…

Be salty, stay lit.
