Friday Morning Word

Sometimes the hardest person to be kind to and show grace to is ourselves.

We’re often quick to extend grace to others but slow to offer ourselves the same kindness. We make a mistake and suddenly start questioning our worth.

But there’s a big difference between “I made a mistake” and “I am a mistake.”

One acknowledges something we did. The other attacks who we are.

You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). You are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).

You will make mistakes. You will have bad days. You will fall short.

But you are not a mistake.

So, give yourself a little grace today. God’s not finished with you yet!

Until my next post…

Be salty, stay lit.

  1. Those were cool bikes! I loved mine. It gave me a sense of freedom. I have no idea what happened to it. We moved in ‘77 and I can’t recall if it made the move. It’s possible my dad took it away as some form of punishment, but I’m not sure. There are things, pets, and people I loved that are gone and I have no real recollection of what happened to them. Anyways, yes, you can make a mistake without being a mistake. Thanks for reading David. Happy Friday!

  2. Noted! I can be mistaken without being a mistake. One is something I do, and the other is who I am.
I got a really cool bike in 1976, as well! It was a white, “Spirit of 76” Huffy.
