Operation Christmas Child

National Collection Week begins today. My wife, Terri, and I are excited to see what amazing things God will do this week in the lives of those who bring love-filled shoebox gifts and in the lives of those who are going to receive them.

Shoebox gifts filled with basic things like toothbrushes, combs, and fun things like balls, toys, and hard candy will go to millions of children in 130 countries whose young lives have been severely impacted by war, poverty, disease and natural disasters. Along with these gifts, these kids will have the opportunity to hear the ultimate message of hope that we all need to hear at some point in our lives. After all, we all struggle in this life. Sometimes life may seem like it delivers us way more tricks than treats. But our current situation is only temporary. Our relationship with God, our Creator, is much more permanent.

Maybe you’re feeling distanced from Him this morning. I hope you know that you can change that. Yes, that’s right. Life doesn’t have to be this way. It can be more different than you ever imagined. That tug in your heart is the Holy Spirit knocking on the door of your heart. How will you respond?

God loves you so much so that He gave His one and only Son as an atoning sacrifice so that all who believe might receive the gift of eternal life—communion with the Lord, forever.

As we prepare to receive hundreds of shoeboxes today, Terri and I pray that many people all around the world will come to know what we know to be true—a relationship with Jesus Christ is not an end in and of itself, but a wonderful beginning to a grand adventure.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May His face shine down on you today.
