The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Psalm 19:1
For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. Romans 1:20
One way God’s existence is evident and revealed to us is through creation. This “general revelation” is available to all of us as we are able to see and experience it through witnessing it nature and in the world around us. Like a great designer, God has designed creation, so that we may know that He exists.
For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus. Romans 2:14-16
In addition to creation as an external identification of God’s existence, we have our moral sense of right and wrong, revealing God to us because we have an inner longing for Him. Deep inside, we know that we know that there is a power and authority greater than us that exists in the universe. That power and authority is God. We know that because He has revealed that to us through our conscience.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
God also reveals his existence and his truths to us through His written word, what we know today as the Bible. Through the Bible God provides us with special revelation about Him.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14
The most powerful way God has revealed His existence to us is through Jesus Christ, his one and only Son. Jesus reveal the person and nature of God to us. Through Jesus we can know God and experience an intimate, personal relationship with God.
I pray that this would make sense to you and that the Holy Spirit would reveal God’s truth to you. You see, although you may deny it, God does exist. He has initiated a relationship with us and through the precious shed blood of his Son, Jesus Christ, He has paved a way for you and me to be reconciled with Him, forever.
