I Am A Child Of God

I am a child of God. Who I was perished when Christ entered my heart. The old is gone. Behold, the new is here.

Being a child of God informs my response to the darkness I see all around me. At least it should.

My friend, I get it.

It’s easy to get caught up in the division and strife flooding every crevice of our world. There are throngs of people screaming and spewing hate and vileness, seemingly thinking if they just shout a little louder they will convince you of their argument, regardless of what side they are on. But I urge you brothers and sisters, resist the temptation to follow suit.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

 2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)

As believers and followers of Jesus Christ, you and I have been called to a greater purpose than the controversies of this present life.  There is more at stake here than meets the eye. We are ambassadors of the Good News of Jesus Christ.

People are not our enemy.

We are called to be the salt and light, pointing people to Christ while glorifying God with our words and through our actions. We must ensure that we maintain a good witness, not allowing ourselves to be led astray.

We are no longer slaves. Our chains have been broken. We are set free. We are children of God and our lives must reflect the magnificent work He has done for us. In Christ, we are new creations, no longer bound by old paradigms nor burdened by old chains.

Go forth and let your witness shine bright and your testimony be bold.

I will be praying for you.

  1. “People are not our enemy.” That’s the concept I imagine is the hardest for unbelievers to understand. Ephesians 6:10-20. Stand strong, my friend.

  2. Thank you Kathryn. I originally heard the statement in a recent message Dr. Bock delivered at our church. I think given our current tumultuous times it’s hard for believers to remember as well.
