My heart aches for the people of Sutherland Springs in the wake of the senseless act of violence that disrupted Sunday services at First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs and extinguished the bright shining lights of a number of God’s faithful.
We live in a world where these types of acts are all too common place. Hardly a day passes that is free of these maddening acts of evil. Each time it occurs, our hearts break over again and again.
Yet, while our hearts are heavy with grief, we are not without hope.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:5 (ESV)
Tonight, I am praying for God’s comfort and healing for the town of Sutherland Springs and for all of its’ people. As is true of so many in our nation tonight, my heart aches for the lives impacted by this horrific act. May the Lord come to the aid of His children in this awful time. May love overcome hate. May good overcome evil. May the light overcome darkness. Godspeed.
Praise be to the God and Father of our LORD Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 (NIV)
Praying for you Sutherland Springs…
