Many of us live in cities that never seem to sleep. Some of us suffer from the inability to sleep through the night. We toss and turn. We stress. We fret. We worry. We fear.
Jesus prayed often and frequently He prayed at night, praying to Father God. He had left the throne of Heaven to walk among us, coming to redeem His people. Because He chose to do this, Jesus paved a way for you and me to return to right fellowship with the God Almighty. Through our personal relationship with the Lord, we can rest and release our burdens and cares to Him.
One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.
Luke 6:12 (NIV)
God is able.
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 3:20-21 (ESV)
Whatever our concerns may be, we can lay them at God’s feet and know that He is able and willing to help us. We’re not going it alone. The Lord is with us.
Time and tradition have produced many prayers for the end of the day. As our bed offers us rest for our body, prayer offers us rest for our soul. Before you lay down tonight, talk to God. Tell Him your cares. He’s listening.
