A Simple Bible Reading Plan
Today on Saturday in the Word, we continue our journey through our Simple Bible Reading Plan as we turn to Ephesians 3.
Paul has a lot to say in this chapter, but one thing really stands out to me:
God’s plans are bigger than we are.
Paul writes about the mystery of the Gospel being revealed—that the good news of Jesus isn’t just for one group of people. In Christ, the dividing walls come down, and we are brought together as one.
And then Paul prays.
Not a small prayer, either.
He prays that we would be strengthened with power through God’s Spirit, that Christ would dwell in our hearts through faith, and that we would begin to grasp just how wide, long, high, and deep the love of Christ really is.
That’s a pretty big prayer.
And maybe that’s the point.
Sometimes I think we pray according to the size of our circumstances instead of the size of our God.
Ephesians 3 reminds me to think bigger.
Not necessarily bigger dreams, bigger platforms, or bigger accomplishments.
A bigger understanding of God’s love.
A love that is wider than our failures.
Longer than our struggles.
Higher than our circumstances.
And deeper than we can fully comprehend.
Paul finishes with one of those passages that has become familiar to many of us:
God is able to do “far more abundantly than all that we ask or think.”
I don’t know what you’re carrying today.
But I know this:
God is bigger than it.
So today, I’m praying a little bigger.
