One of the richest chapters in Scripture, Chapter 11 in the Gospel of John shows us a Jesus who is fully human and fully God. As Jesus and his disciples are moving through the region ministering to people, His relationship with the Jewish leaders is rapidly growing untenable. His friends, Mary and Martha, come to Him to bring Jesus the news that His beloved friend Lazarus has fallen ill. After Lazarus dies, we see Jesus weep, showing His humanity. It is clear He has compassion for Lazarus and his sisters, even though He knows that this event occurred for the purpose of helping the public and His disciples grow spiritually in their understanding of who He is. A few verses later, we see Jesus, fully Lord, raise Lazarus from the dead. All of this seals the doomed relationship Jesus has with the Jewish leadership fighting against Him.
John 11:35 (NIV) Jesus wept.
There’s so much to unpack and meditate on in this one chapter. I would encourage you to do what I’ve been doing the past several days—read John 11 several times and really examine all there is to see in this powerful chapter.
For now, meditate on Jesus, fully God, fully human. He is worthy.
Prayer:
Lord, help me continue to grow in my understanding of who You are. Give me eyes to see and ears to hear the truth of Your Word. Thank You for Your love, grace and mercy. Amen.
Blessings,

Jesus is indeed Lord! I will spend some time with John 11, reviewing the details again. The text is especially relevant as we walk to the Cross as Easter approaches.
