Blogging in a Pandemic | A COVID-19 Devotional

It’s hard to ignore the elephant in the room. This pandemic has crept into every crevice of our lives. No matter how much you try, you can’t escape it. As a blogger, you can’t ignore COVID-19 and pretend it’s not there. You have to address it. You have to acknowledge its impact and influence on our daily lives.

Your views on the pandemic and where we are in relationship to COVID post-vaccine can certainly differ from those around you, especially other bloggers sharing from their own perspective and experience. It’s okay to admit we don’t all see it the same. For some, the response to the pandemic has ripped their lives to shreds more than the actual virus. For others, COVID-19 has slaughtered their families, killed loved ones, and torn gaping holes in the tapestry of their lives.

What will life look like post-COVID-19? How will our lives be different going forward? Let’s face it, the world won’t ever quite be the same. How many years will the ripple effects of the pandemic last? What if we have something else come along that deviates us like this murderous pandemic?

I imagine we will see an increase in apocalyptic, dystopian books and movies about killer bugs cooked up in secret government labs that result in massive upheaval. I expect there will be a resurgence in Orwellian thinking and that the writings of George Orwell will experience a great renaissance.

As a blogger, how will you respond to the influence of COVID and write content post-pandemic?

For me, as a Christian blogger focusing on on faith and spirituality, I am still exploring how this pandemic will weave into my writing, particularly my blog. When the pandemic first hit our globe, I began a series called “The COVID-19 Devotionals.

While I thought we had arrived at a place beyond COVID-19 and had a diminished need for my posts centered around the pandemic, it is now apparent that we simply advanced into the next generation of COVID’s impact on our daily lives.

So, I will go back to the drawing board and pray about what my future content will look like in these pandemic times. How will the pandemic influenza your writing? Has the reality of COVID crept into your blogging?

My prayer for you is that you continue creating great content amid these crazy times we live in. At times, it’s like we are caught in a sci-fi, horror-thriller. But don’t let the present times rob you of future hope. In the end, the light overcomes the darkness.

Happy Blogging!

  1. Well, I shall continue to focus on positive messages and my photos. There is so much I want to say, but I don’t think that is what God has in mind for my blog, so, encouragement and a positive perspective will be my focus. But, I fear there are some challenging times ahead. Blessings to you! 🙏

  3. I agree with Lisa. I’m sticking with my tag line, “Positive Thoughts from a Christian Perspective.” This pandemic has been so polarizing, it’s unlikely that my feeble words will change anyone’s mind.

  6. Ranier, thanks for sharing these thoughts and relevant questions. During the course of these many “pandemic-filled” months, the Lord continues to nudge me to write about His Word with extra helpings of love, faith, and hope.
