It’s Friday night. T and I are sitting on our patio after watching the newest episodes of “Truth Be Told” and “Ted Lasso.” Paul Carrack’s new record “One on One” is streaming via our blue JBL bluetooth speaker. T is cat fishing with her rainbow wand. She manages to pique the interest of one of the feral kittens, “Gray,” who is currently taking up residence in our backyard.
The air is cool. The humidity low. The no-see-ums and other tiny flying gnats seem to be momentarily held at bay even though our patio light is glowing brightly overhead.

Tonight’s unique episode of Ted Lasso focused on Beard drowning his sorrows after AFC Richmond gets squashed by Manchester United in a semifinal match.
After first watch, T isn’t sure she liked the quirky episode. I kinda liked it. I mean—those pants!
The new Paul Carrack album is definitely grooving. There is something soothing and familiar about Carrack’s vocals. His songs celebrate love, romance, and relationships. Several songs hint at life amid the pandemic and the challenges that our new manner of life presents, especially relationally. Loneliness and isolation make us feel like small specks in a vast universe. There’s a fantastic cover of the old Charlie Rich classic, “Behind Closed Doors,” complete with the signature piano riff.

Terri asks me to Google to see what planets are visible in the night sky. Reluctantly, I search. Looks like this is a big week astronomically speaking. Saturn is plain to see in the sky tonight. It appears Jupiter will make an appearance later this weekend. Fall and the relief of cooler weather is approaching.
Life is good.
Well, I better call it a night. I’m playing in a chess tournament tomorrow.
Be kind to one another. Love each other well.
Stay healthy. Be safe. Keep the faith.

A rarely take the time to click on videos, but I’m sure glad I did this time! Paul Carrack’s song is amazing! I’m going to share it with my son who has struggled with alcohol and drug use. Thanks, Rainer! I enjoy your musings. God’s best to you and Sweet T.

Ranier, thank you for sharing a bit of your Friday night. Paul Carrack’s sing shares a blessing with its message. I agree with your remarks about the loneliness and isolation many have experienced during the past months. It challenges many physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Wow! His voice is smooth like butter. Love the gist of the song. “When we’re hungry, love will keep us alive.” ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL 🙂
