My Monday Morning Cup | How is the Bible Relevant to Your Life?

I believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God and therefore inerrant in its original form. The Bible is where I can find God’s words in written form. For me, as a Christian, the Bible represents the supreme and final authority for my faith and my life. Inspired by God and written by human hands, the Bible is full of accounts about events, people, places, and dates that are supported by archaeological study. It is a series of sixty-six books and letters written by a number of authors over a span of nearly 1,500 years. The human authors are the picture of diversity while remaining steadfast in their unity of purpose and principles.

What the Bible Doesn’t Claim to Be

The Bible is not an exact record of ancient civilizations, nor does it claim to be. It isn’t intended to provide scientific proof for the existence of God. The Bible doesn’t even claim to be an all-encompassing encyclopedia of rules that lead to good moral and right ethical behavior.

What the Bible Does Claim to Be

The Bible does claim that is “breathed out by God” and “able to make you wise for salvation.” Scripture does claim that it is “profitable for teaching, for reprove, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:15-17)

The Bible claims that it was written “so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ (John 20:31) and teaches that “For whatever was written in former days was written for our instructions, that through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” (Romans 15:4)

I believe that the Bible is profitable for me to read and study because it helps me know God better and more deeply. Spending time in the Bible helps me know what God’s will is for my life and what His purpose is for the world I inhabit. I believe reading the Bible is good and wise because Scripture teaches me to meditate on the word of God day and night, so that I can be careful to do what it says and therefore live in a manner pleasing to God (Joshua 1:8).

How is the Bible Relevant to Your Life?

Reading and studying the Bible feeds my soul. It is the spiritual bread that I need to nourish my innermost self. I can stand on its promises. As a Christian, I need to carve out time to spend in God’s Word and with God’s Word.

I believe the Bible is relevant to your life because by spending time reading and studying the Bible you will grow in your relationship with God, His Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. I believe that regular Bible study will help you make good choices and wise decisions. I believe that reading your Bible will help you treat others more compassionately and allow you to love people well. For me, investing time in God’s Word provides me with perspective and insight to the world we live in today. Those are just a few reasons that lead me to believe that the Bible is relevant for your life.
